Friday, October 15

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. the Association Board meeting will be held. At the same time the Auxiliary officers will meet. In the afternoon Jeff Settell will have a slide presentation on depression glass. The rest of the afternoon is reserved for a visit to Living History Farms, which is across the street from the hotel. The two Howards - Howard Johnson and Howard Buckles will relive their 50 years in the auction business following a Pork Barbeque on the hotel patio Friday evening.

Saturday, October 16

Early Saturday morning the business meetings of the Association and the Auxiliary will be held. From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. there will be five seminars. Two will be presented by John Roebuck. The first will be tips for beginning auctioneers and the second will be on marketing. This year every auctioneer can be a part of the program during the Three Minute Idea Exchange. Mike Jones will be kicking off the afternoon program. Just before the Fun Auction Saturday afternoon, Ralph Palmer is likely to keep you laughing or thinking or both. Always a highlight, the banquet Saturday evening will precede the announcement of the new Hall of Fame member. Lee Iben will entertain prior to the meal and to conclude the evening.

Sunday, October 17

Sunday morning begins with announcement of the advertising contest awards and presentation of the prize money to five winners of the State Fair Bid Calling Contest. Aftter the annual brunch, Michael Cotter takes center stage. The Convention will close with the auction of the table center pieces from the Auxiliary.

The only living charter member of the Iowa Auctioneers Association. He is active in the auction business under the name Joy & Johnson Auction Company, Inc.

Howard Buckles, Keosauqua, Iowa. Two Howards.
Now retired (or semi-retired), he has been an auctioneer for 50 years and is a member of the National Auctioneers Hall of Fame.

John Roebuck, CAI, AARE, Memphis, Tennessee. Tips for Beginning Auctioneers, Marketing Yourself and Your Company.

Elected to the Board of Directors of the National Auctioneers Association in July in Grand Rapids, he is a former International Men's Champion Auctioneer.
